Xtensible Solutions first opened its doors in 1998 as a standards-based consulting company for the utility industry. In February of 2023, at DistribuTECH, Xtensible announces the completion of Affirma and begins working with early adopters of the product including SCE and JEA.
Xtensible becomes an ESRI Bronze Partner to continue the expansion of the ESRI UN Model in conjunction with Network Model Management Systems.
2022
Xtensible announces the opening of a new office in South Africa jointly with regional partners to support product development and world-wide clients.
Xtensible is featured in the Top 10 Utilities Tech Provider for 2022 by CIO Review for the development of an Enterprise Semantic and Metadata Management Solution - Affirma.
2021
Leveraging lessons-learned from MD3i, Xtensible announces plans for developing our third-generation product, Affirma, to enable companies to perform at scale enterprise semantic modeling and metadata management.
Ameren partners with Xtensible for a multi-year project for Optimizing Asset Investments and Operations with Grid Network Model Management. Presented at DistribuTECH presentation and Utility University training.

With the worldwide impact of COVID, Xtensible leadership bought back the company, setting it up as a subsidiary of Xtensible Holdings after restructure at Doble.
Announced that Xtensible and Siemens Advanta Join Forces to Support AEP’s Next Generation T-Nexus Program (Network Model Management).

Xtensible partners with Duke Energy and other companies and standards committee to support the development of OpenFMB. OpenFMB focuses on describing a publish-and-subscribe model of communication for smart grid devices to enable efficient communication of data.

2014
Xtensible begins the BIDA (Business Intelligence and Data Analytics) journey with Exelon. Providing consulting and integration services for the design, architecture, and data modeling of the first data lake across Exelon subsidiaries.
2013
In 2013, Oracle and Xtensible collaborated to create the Oracle Utility Data Model (OUDM), leveraging Xtensible's MD3i Framework for Enterprise Semantic Modeling and industry standards like CIM.
2011
Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) adopts the Xtensible Enterprise Information Management (EIM) as a standard. This was a result of work and lessons learnt from work between Xtensible, SDG&E, and Oncor.
2010
ESCO Technologies (NYSE: ESE), a company that included Aclara and Doble, acquired Xtensible to support the utilities vertical.
2009
Grid Modernization Program - Southern California Edison partners with Xtensible for data modeling services as part of their Grid Modernization Program, which has now become more than a decade long client journey.
2007
Gartner names Xtensible Solutions as a “Cool Vendor” of MD3i for semantic model management.
2006
Xtensible enters into the Africa market with a multi-year project to support Eskom in the design and implementation of their next generation SCADA systems spanning multiple regions in Africa.
Leveraged lessons-learned with MDI to develop the next generation product, MD3i (Model-Driven Integration Information and Intelligence), furthering expanding the usability of industry standards.
Xtensible and EPRI lead the creation of the UCA CIM User Group. Including taking on roles to this day, such as User Group Vendor-Co Chair, Model Manager(s), and Working Group Convenor(s).
2005
Xtensible breaks into the international market and begins working with EDF in France for addressing semantics in application integration and with Scottish Power for adopting the CIM for integration Field, Work, Control and Asset Management Systems.
2004
CAISO partners with Xtensible to architect, design, and implement the Open Access to Energy Market taking a standards-based approach for modern market operations and technology. Integrating more than 22 systems from 7 different vendors.
2003
Created the Model Driven Integration (MDI) Workbench. This workbench provided a consistent artifact generation capability and acted as an accelerator by using a standards based approach.
2002
KPMG Consulting, acquires Xtensible to scale up and expand outside of the United States.
Founding partner, Greg Robinson, is invited to join the DistribuTECH planning committee for EAI, asset management and analytics. To this day, he stills serves on the committee including being the chair of multiple tracks.
