SUMMARY:DistribuTECH 2024 - Grid Network Data Quality is More Than a Data Issue
DESCRIPTION:Greg Robinson of Xtensible will be leading a panel discussion with Lesia Bilitchenko\, Senior Engineering Manager at Southern California Edison\, Michael Daniels\, Director of Digital Grid of the Future at Ameren\, and Rich Rosenstiel\, IT Director at Exelon. These panelists will discuss their strategies and solutions as they strive for accurate network related data that is being used for planning\, design\, operations and protection. They will share their lessons learned and course corrections on this journey of improving network related data quality over time. \nBeing able to leverage reliable\, up-to-date\, and end-to-end electrical network models is necessary for utility planners\, engineers\, maintenance workers and operators. These stakeholders have both overlapping and unique uses of network data that vary in scope\, timelines\, and frequencies in support of the asset lifecycle (planning\, design\, construction\, operation & maintenance\, retirement). And frequently\, network related data does not correspond correctly when it is modeled and used differently across many systems such as GIS\, EMS\, ADMS\, network analysis\, engineering design\, asset management\, work management\, outage management. \nWhile data may be of reasonable quality in individual systems\, it is a common experience for the data to not line up well with data from other systems. This type of data quality issue is difficult to solve with even the most sophisticated data profiling tools. The intense manual effort required to make things work can feel like one is chasing their tail\, which can also be stressful when needing to provide timely\, accurate reporting to regulators. These panelists will discuss their strategies and solutions as they strive for accurate and congruent network related data that is being used for so many important purposes. \nKey Takeaways: \n\nHear strategies and lessons learned for sharing grid network models\nUnderstand key aspects for achieving good quality data that is shared among many systems\nDiscover ways to avoid problems from incongruent data in enterprise analytics and reporting\n\nBe sure to stop by the Xtensible booth 1302 to learn more!
